(Green Bay, WI) – Back by popular demand, Green Bay Botanical Garden is once again offering its Soup With Substance series starting Friday, January 29th. This event includes recreation, education, music and food. Hike, snowshoe or blaze your own cross country skiing trail on the 47 acres of natural beauty at Green Bay Botanical Garden. Then come inside the Visitors’ Center to warm up with hot soup and hearty bread. Enjoy a topical lecture by local experts and relax to the soothing sounds of live music. 

The event runs every other Friday from January 29th through March 26th from 5:30-8 pm. The schedule includes the following topical lectures and local live music:

Friday, January 29th

Lecture: “House Plant Care” with Loren Hansen, The Plant People

Live Music: Eddie Biebel & AJ Srubas Duo (acoustic, roots music, western swing)

Friday, February 12th

Lecture: “Heirloom Vegetables” with Vicki Medland, UWGB Cofrin Center for Biodiversity

Live Music: Watercolor Harps by Cheryl Murphy & Tammy Naze

Friday, February 26th

Lecture: “Folklore of Plants” with Jackie Johnson, Northeast Wisconsin Unit of the Herb Society of America

Music: Boo Bradley (blues, roots music, Americana)

Friday, March 12th

Lecture: Ellen Kort, Poet Laurette

Music: Rough Draft (jazz, pop, show tunes)

Friday, March 26th

Lecture: “Emerald Ash Borer” with Bill McNee, Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources

Music: Hauer Duo (classical, instrumental)

Dinner at 5:30 p.m. · Lecture at 6:30 p.m. · Concert 7:00-8:00 p.m.

 **Advance tickets are required and are available at the Garden**

GBBG Members: $7 · Non-Members: $12

Admission includes entry to the Garden for hiking, skiing and snowshoeing, soup, lecture and concert. Locally made pottery soup bowls can be purchased for an additional fee of $8. Advance tickets required – to purchase tickets, please call (920) 490-9457.
