Green Bay Botanical Garden Celebrates 15 Years! - Sep 7, 2010
Art Harvest featured at Anniversary Celebration

Green Bay Botanical Garden will be hosting its 15th Anniversary Celebration as a leading horticultural resource in Wisconsin, on Saturday, September 11th from 9 am to 5 pm. In addition to celebrating the Garden’s Anniversary, the Garden is featuring the 2nd Annual Art Harvest – over 30 local artists will be on display in the beautiful setting of the Magnolia Grove. All visitors will receive free admission to the Garden during the open hours of 9 am to 5 pm.
The day’s festivities include:
Art Harvest: Stroll through the beautiful Magnolia Grove while taking in the art of various artists including jewelers, watercolorists, photographers, woodworkers, fabric artists, glass artists, gourd artists and potters.
Garden Tours: Tours of the Garden will be offered at 11 am and 1 pm.
Plant Sales: Join the Bay Area Daylily (B.A.D.) Buds for their annual daylily sale in the Kaftan Lusthaus; the Green & Gold Hosta Society for their annual hosta sale on the Schneider Terrace; Green Bay Chapter of Wild Ones-Native Plants, Natural Landscapes for a native flowers and grasses sale and the N.E.W. Unit of Herb Society of America for an herb sale. While supplies last.
N.E.W. Master Gardeners Booth: Join the N.E.W Master Gardeners for an educational display; join tours of their square foot vegetable garden and enabling garden at 10 am, 11 am and upon request in the afternoon.
N.E.W. Rose Society Booth: Join members of the N.E.W. Rose Society as they show off some of the best roses around and get expert advice on growing and caring for roses.
10am-12:30pm: Cheryl Murphy - Green Bay based harpist Cheryl Murphy plays both the Celtic and the pedal harp. She has performed at Milwaukee Irish Fest, Artstreet, with the Fox Valley Symphony, and currently performs with the Civic Symphony of Green Bay. Cheryl is the harpist (and tin whistle and "bones" player) for the Irish group Celtic Consort.
1:30-4:00pm: Jeanne Kuhns and George Sawyn - Door County Magazine’s 2008 Female Musician of the Year, Jeanne Kuhns is a folk/blues singer, songwriter, and a passionate performer who conveys to her audiences her love of life, women's issues and nature. She has been influenced by folk, blues and rock and these threads have been woven into her music. She has a lyrical, intimate vocal quality that is nicely embellished by George Sawyn’s subtle guitar work.
Food and Beverages: Food and beverages will be available on site from Alpha Delights and LaJava a roasting house. Cookout items including bratwurst, hamburgers, grilled chicken breasts, chips, granola bars, muffins, bagels, popcorn, soda and water will also be available for purchase.
